THE POSITION
Under the general supervision of the Director of Fund Development, the Fund Development Associate will be responsible for a broad range of activities related to data base management, including gift processing, donor acknowledgement and recognition, and overall administrative support related to our fundraising events that will result in increased financial support for the organization.
Additionally this position will provide additional analytical, volunteer management, and project-based support to the Fund Development (FD) department and its various programs and special projects as assigned.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the receipt and processing of gifts to TNDC.
- Independently manage fundraising database on Raisers Edge 7 including day-to-day data entry, maintenance, record keeping, mailings, invitations and targeted appeals. (This would also include supervision of other staff in regards to RE data entry.)
- Monitor and process online donations.
- Accurate and efficient coordination and management of gift processing, including the preparation, mailing and tracking of donor thank you letters.
- Manage billing of all donors for outstanding pledges.
- Compile, analyze and maintain donor, prospect and volunteer information and statistics.
- Provide analysis of FD activities (donor trends, donations, etc.).
- Develop and maintain central filing systems and procedures for the department.
- Assist with the planning, organizing and coordination of small to large events including the Anniversary Dinner, Celebrity Pool Toss, smaller community outreach events, and other events as assigned.
- Respond to requests from donor constituency and community as necessary.
- Reconcile gift records with the Finance Department on a monthly basis.
- Manage and oversee corporate and individual volunteers as part of once off volunteer activities.
- Independently manage special projects as assigned. (Examples may include the development of an ongoing volunteer / donor outreach program, new donor reporting / tracking procedures, etc.)
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Excellent organizational and clerical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent computer skills especially with donor databases. Strong experience in Raisers Edge required.
- Ability to multitask and provide prompt response to identified tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, exhibiting flexibility.
- Ability to independently organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects, and handle confidential materials.
- Sensitivity to the diverse populations of TNDC (its tenants and staff) of the Tenderloin, and of San Francisco.
- Ability to work independently within a very diverse workplace and to relate to a broad spectrum of people outside of TNDC, from low-income residents to major donors and Board members.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and initiative.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge Database System.
- Four year college degree or two years of college and three years professional experience in non-profit development or relevant field.
- 2-4 years of work experience, in a non-profit setting preferred.
