THE POSITION
Under the direct supervision of the Institutional Gifts Manager, the Grant Writer will engage in professional fundraising activities in support of Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) programs. Emphasis will be on increasing TNDC’s base of foundation, corporate and government support as well as upgrading and renewing current supporters. The Grant Writer will implement strategies to ensure that all aspects of foundation, corporate and government grant writing and long-term planning are effectively and efficiently carried out.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manage full range of activities required to prepare, write and submit grant proposals to foundation, corporate and government sources
- Manage grant proposals to foundation, corporate and government sources.
- Research and identify prospective foundation, corporate, and government funders.
- Submit grant agreements, contracts, reports, and other stewardship materials for funded grants.
- Monitor grants and contracts to ensure program objectives are met.
- Research funding source proposal requirements and submittal deadlines and maintain report deadline calendar.
- Interview program managers to determine goals and objectives, scope, feasibility, and funding needs for programs.
- Write, edit and proofread proposals and reports to corporate, foundation and government funders.
- Track status of proposals and follow up to provide additional information as required by funding sources.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to convey complicated projects in a compelling and persuasive manner.
- Ability to work independently on deadline-critical projects.
- Good verbal communications skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use internet as research tool.
- Ability to work within a very diverse workplace; and to relate to a broad spectrum of people outside of TNDC.
- Confidentiality required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least three years full-time experience in fundraising, or related job experience.
- At least three years prior grant-writing experience preferred.
SALARY
$48,000 - $52,000 (Depending on experience) + Excellent Benefits.
