350 Ellis Street
August 21, 2015|
TNDC has been selected by San Francisco Housing Authority (SFHA) and the Mayor’s Office of Housing as the development team to undertake the transfer of ownership, rehabilitation, and long-term management of the building under HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program. TNDC is teaming up with Glide Community Housing to provide on-site services for the 350 Ellis residents. The current property is home to low-income seniors and disabled individuals. TNDC will continue to serve the existing resident population following the rehabilitation of the building.
350 Ellis Street is located within the heart of the Tenderloin and nearly adjacent to the Glide Foundation. This 13-story stucco high rise was built in 1970. The building houses 96 residential units (studios and one-bedrooms), a rear-yard surface parking lot, and street level common spaces including entry and elevator lobbies, offices, restrooms, laundry, a community room, and community kitchen.
In order to accommodate much-needed support spaces such as offices for building management and social services, community spaces, accessible laundry, and maintenance areas, we plan a major renovation of the existing ground floor level as well as an expansion of the ground floor into the rear yard. We will install a combination of new hardscape and new low-maintenance planting including (potentially) vegetable beds to encourage the use of outdoor private areas and make the dense urban site more livable.
No residents will be displaced due to this building renovation.
