Laura Choe
Program Manager
Laura joined TASP in 1999 as Program Coordinator and spent six years facilitating recreational, cultural, and educational activities for Tenderloin children and teens. Under Laura’s oversight, education continues to be a primary focus for the center. She continues to be the center's school liaison, providing a host of educational services for kindergarten to high school students and their parents. She also encourages academic success by advising student participants on options after high school and providing important information on financial aid and college life. Laura received her B.A. and M.A. Degrees in Sociology from the University of California at San Diego. Previous to joining TASP, she worked at other children's programs, including a year teaching 5th graders in South Central, Los Angeles through Americorps.
Jennifer Hom
Program Coordinator
Jennifer has been with the program for over five years and has a number of different roles. One focus area for her is in guiding older teens to seek positive leadership roles in the program and community. Jennifer also links teens with jobs and career exposure by coordinating job shadow and career days. With her support, TASP is now a job placement site where young adults can find part-time job opportunities during the school year and summer. Jennifer was previously employed at the Central YMCA and has been in the community for over ten years. She graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. Degree in Social Work and a minor in counseling.
Sarah Zain
Program Coordinator
Moving from Malaysia to California in high school, Sarah has spent many years working with children and young people at organizations such as the Duveneck Kid’s Club and the University of California at San Diego's (UCSD) Early Childhood Education Center. Sarah received her B.A. in International Studies – Political Science and Sociology from UCSD. Prior to joining TNDC, she completed a six-month internship with Project Concern International/Bolivia. During that time, she evaluated the Educational Support Program and designed new integration projects for school programs in rural and urban areas of Bolivia. Sarah returned to the Bay Area and joined TNDC in January of 2007 as Program Coordinator. Part of her duties are helping to plan the annual college tour for the center's teens and overseeing the volunteer program.
