Heart of the City Urban Garden Walk

Join us for a guided educational walking tour and plant sale in the Heart of San Francisco. The UC Master Gardeners of San Mateo and San Francisco Counties and the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) are working in partnership to offer the garden walk, which will focus on urban garden techniques for small spaces.
Date: September 13, 2014
Time: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM (last tour starts @ 2:30pm)
Cost: $20 (money raised benefits TNDC and UC Berkeley Master Gardeners programs)
Garden highlights include:
•an entirely self-contained hydroponics garden at Project Open Hand;
•a green haven with a 60-foot Redwood tree at the Tenderloin National Forest
•urban water conservation demonstrations;
•hidden gems full of innovative gardening concepts at Organic Mechanics;
•two of TNDC’s gardens which distribute free, fresh produce to Tenderloin residents.
The walk is 1.4 miles in distance and approximately 1 hour in length. Your escorted educational adventure will begin and end at UC Hastings Snodgrass Plaza (McAllister and Hyde streets) where there will be demonstration stations showcasing a variety of urban gardening topics as well as a sale of seeds and locally grown plants for fall and winter gardens.
