BOLLYWOOD DANCE PARTY BENEFITS KIDS IN
SAN FRANCISCO’S TENDERLOIN AND NEW DELHI, INDIA

“Compassionate Chefs Cafe” Event at New Delhi Restaurant
Helps Uplift Lives of Less Fortunate Children

Sunday, November 11, from 4pm – 10pm

The restaurant and hotel industry will show its support for low income and impoverished children at the Bollywood Dance Party, hosted by the Compassionate Chefs Café, at the world famous New Delhi Restaurant in San Francisco on Sunday, November 11 from 4pm – 10pm.

Proceeds from the evening will go to help the children of the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation’s After School Program, and the Gandhi Ashram in New Delhi, India which helps impoverished children labeled “untouchable” by Indian society.

The Bollywood Dance Party features the best Indian food and drink in San Francisco, alongside an extravaganza of Indian entertainment like exotic belly dancing, contortionists, Bhangra dancers and the Royal Miss Asian American Court.

“This is a wonderful chance for all of us to buff our Karma, so to speak,” explains New Delhi Restaurant Chef and Owner, Ranjan Dey. “It’s a celebration of fine dining and merriment – that simultaneously benefits the poorest children in San Francisco and New Delhi.”

Twice each year, the New Delhi Restaurant transforms into the Compassionate Chef’s Café – a unique dining event of giving and service. On these special days, delicious meals are offered purely as a gift to guests. In turn, patrons choose to “pay it forward” – offering whatever amount they choose to improve the lives of children in San Francisco and New Delhi, India.

This year, the Compassionate Chef’s Café is hosting the Bollywood Dance Party for thousands of members of the restaurant, hotel, food, and beverage industries. Many of its members are already sponsors of the party, helping to underwrite the costs of the food and drink given away during the evening.

About TNDC’s After-School Program
TNDC’s After School Program (TASP) is a beehive of positively charged youthful energy. About 55 kids, ages five to 17, come to “the center” at 225 Eddy Street in San Francisco daily with 220 children attending over the course of a year. While their parents are still at work, youths get a safe, supervised space during afternoon hours with free recreational and academic activities. Activities include art, dance, and judo classes, team sports, trips to parks and museums, and homework tutoring. Teens can even attend an annual college tour that takes them to college and university campuses nationwide. TASP opened in 1993 as a service of the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, a nonprofit that provides affordable housing with supportive services to low-income people in the Tenderloin. The center doubled in size in 2001 to serve more children in need. Today, an estimated 3,500 children live in the Tenderloin and many of them need a safe haven like TASP.
