Celebrities in the Pool
Supporting Kids After School

Thank you 2006 Pool Toss Sponsors!

San Francisco’s bravest local celebrities endured bad hair and soaked outfits to raise $200,000, benefitting children and families in San Francisco’s Tenderloin. About 450 people were in attendence at TNDC's 14th Annual TNDC Celebrity Pool Toss on October 17th at the Phoenix Hotel.

Among the celebs who took the dip were: Jack Bair, Senior Vice President of the San Francisco Giants; Oakland Raiders Jerrod Cooper; San Francisco Supervisor Chris Daly; PR Maven Cynthia “The Mouth” Bowman; Clift General Manager Alexandra Walterspiel; San Francisco magazine Editor-in-Chief Bruce Kelley, and his brothers Tom Kelley of Project Inform’s board, and former NBA center Rich Kelley; Kofi Bonner, President of Lennar Corporation; Tenderloin entrepreneur Joey Carbouda; and the “New Kids on the Block” of San Francisco’s cultural arts community – San Francisco Fine Arts Museums Director John E. Buchanan, Jr. and San Francisco Film Society Executive Director Graham Leggat.

Emcees who stayed dry while coaxing their friends into the pool were: San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York; Paul Kantner, Co-Founder of Jefferson Airplane; Jan Wahl, KRON and KCBS Entertainment Reporter; actor/writer/producer Cindy Williams; Oakland Raiders Grant Irons and JP Foschi; author Ben Fong Torres; KGO-TV anchor Cheryl Jennings; San Francisco Chronicle reporters Leah Garchik and Joel Selvin; Ken Garcia of the Examiner; another “New Kid on the Block” San Francisco Opera’s General Director David Gockley; Joie de Vivre Hospitality CEO Chip Conley; San Francisco Convention and Visitor Bureau president Joe D’Alessandro; Comcast host Tim Gaskin; and Empress XXX Donna Sachet.

In addition, guests enjoyed live entertainment by the Bud E. Luv Show, deejay Morse Code and Crunch Fitness lifeguards. Guests also noshed on poolside fare donated by San Francisco's favorite restaurants and sipped on the evening’s signature beverage "the Brotherly Love," named for TNDC’s former Executive Director Brother Kelly Cullen -- and last year’s highest grossing tossee.

For the past fourteen years, TNDC's Celebrity Pool Toss has raised money for Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation’s After-School Program and other services benefitting children and families in the Tenderloin. To date, well over one million dollars have been raised. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's event a wild success!
