TNDC’s Annual Cereal Drive
October 31, 2013|
For the past four years, TNDC has partnered with local businesses to bring healthy breakfasts to the children and families of the Tenderloin. This year, we aim to collect 1,000 boxes of cereal and $2000 from our mobile campaign—that’s about 150,000 breakfasts!
We are collecting donations through November and December. Here’s how you can help:
- Text CEREAL to 41444 to give any amount ($10 suggested donation) and check out our progress here.
- Drop off your cereal donation at US Bank branch locations throughout the city during November ONLY.
- Help us collect our donations! If you have access to a car, please contact Kelly Baker, Volunteer Coordinator, at (415) 358-3975 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’ve all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But did you know that adding healthy cereal to your diet can reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer? Cereal is a quick and easy meal to prepare, so it’s especially convenient for families in the Tenderloin that are juggling so many different priorities.
When it comes to kids, having a nutritious breakfast is even more important. Children that eat a healthy breakfast are more likely to have better problem-solving skills, concentrate better, miss fewer days of school, and be more physically active.
Help us ensure that our families get a fresh start to their days. Check out this article from CNN on how to select a healthy breakfast cereal!
