Currently, volunteers can contribute to our garden and our after-school program. We truly value the work of our volunteers, and we are working to expand available opportunities. Check back for updates in the fall!
Please take a moment to fill out this interest form if you would like to volunteer with us.
For current volunteers: Please report your hours HERE.
At Our Community Garden
There is a lot of work to be done at the People’s Garden and volunteers are always welcome. We can use help in the following areas:
- Volunteering during open hours. The People’s Garden is regularly staffed Monday – Friday. Our schedule is below.
- Helping us harvest and distribute food. Second and fourth Wednesdays are our regular harvest days.
- Assist with compost pick-up and reconstituting the soil. Call or email for upcoming pick-up dates and more information.
People’s Garden Volunteer Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10am – 12pm
Tuesday and Thursday: 3pm – 5pm
Upcoming Harvest Days: June 25th, July 9th, and July 23rd
To get involved, please stop by during open volunteer hours and check in with our on-site garden coordinator, Nella Manuel.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate group volunteering requests at this time. We will restart our volunteer program in the spring of 2015.
If you have a few hours during the week and want to inspire young minds, then volunteering at TNDC’s After-School Program (TASP) is for you! The Center serves youth between the ages of 5 and 18 years old and is a safe, supportive space for kids. TASP offers a range of free educational, cultural, artistic, and physical activities. The program is especially eager to enlist volunteers who have strong academic skills to provide tutoring in all subjects—like reading, math, science, and history.
TASP operates from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. We have extended hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for teen homework sessions. Please note that volunteers must make a minimum six month commitment and work between 4-6 hours every month. A background check is also required.
For more information, review the TASP Volunteer Interest Packet.
If you’re interested in volunteering, contact Alyssa Santos, Program Coordinator, at (415) 776-8407 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
If you’d like to host a fundraising event, run a food or supplies drive, support ongoing work in our offices, or spend a day upgrading one of our buildings under the direction of our building maintenance team, these opportunities are also sometimes available.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate new volunteering requests at this time. We will restart our volunteer program in the spring of 2015.
