Kelly Cullen Community

Kelly Cullen Community, located at 220 Golden Gate in a building built by the YMCA in 1910, provides 172 efficiency studio units for chronically homeless individuals and on-site social services for residents. In addition to supportive housing, the project includes the Tom Waddell Urban Health Clinic – a ground floor Department of Public Health managed health clinic providing primary health care to homeless and formerly homeless clients, and a corner commercial retail space. Unique, restored historic features include the 2nd floor atrium and auditorium, and a 5th floor gymnasium. Notable green building design elements include designs to improve energy efficiency and indoor air quality, such as installation of energy efficient lights, appliances and water fixtures, solar hot water pre-heat system, and use of healthy materials for flooring and paint; the health clinic is designed to meet the USGBC LEED Gold standard for Commercial Interiors Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
