ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Mission: Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC) provides affordable housing and services for low-income people in the Tenderloin and throughout San Francisco, to promote equitable access to opportunity and resources.

Established in 1981, TNDC has grown to employ more than 450 staff, to develop, own, manage and provide supportive services in 44 properties that offer deeply affordable housing for nearly 6,000 tenants, and to expand its work in community organizing and afterschool programming. TNDC is viewed as a trusted and well-organized community ally locally and a practice leader nationally. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising both on-site and off-site social workers, incl. hiring, orientation and training. 
  • Collaborate with other agency departments, incl. property management, regarding housing retention and eviction prevention, and serve as a liaison/advocate for tenants with property management and off-site service providers.
  • Manage caseload and perform outreach to all assigned tenants, incl. home visits. 
  • Identify tenants in need of services and maintain awareness of tenants’ overall health status, incl. but not limited to, specific medical, mental health and substance use needs.
  • Promote aging in place
  • Provide culturally appropriate case management and supportive counseling
  • Assist tenants with crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Comply with mandated reporting requirements, incl. Adult Protective Services & Child Protective Services
  • Complete semi-annual HUD service reports. 
  • Provide housing stabilization, develop positive exit plans and support for after-care, assist with crisis intervention and conflict resolution, and perform other duties, as required.

Required:

  • Bilingual English/Cantonese language skills
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Aging Management or Gerontology
  • 2 years in positon offered or as a social worker, low-income seniors
  • Plan, manage and engage in community outreach re: affordable housing for seniors
  • Assist with aging in place, and with physical and mental health issues for older adults
  • Work within a Harm Reduction Model
  • Provide housing stabilization, housing retention and eviction preventive services
  • Serve in permanent supportive housing setting
  • Use of resources and service/benefit programs in S.F.
  • Use trauma-inform care approach
  • Substance abuse issues
  • HIPAA
  • Administration and system management for older adults
  • Complete and maintain grants and service reports
